About The Position

As an Advanced EMT (AEMT) or Paramedic, you'll provide urgent and emergency medical care on Wake Island, working alongside a site physician to support patients with injuries, illnesses, and unexpected medical needs. You'll serve as an initial point of contact for clinic patients, respond to emergencies throughout the island, and deliver care within your licensed scope of practice. Your role also includes supporting medical procedures, maintaining clinic readiness, and assisting with medical evacuation coordination. Project Site: Wake Island, Hawaii. Meals, housing, and transportation are provided. Schedule: Clinic operating hours are 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Rotating on-call coverage is required to support 24/7 emergency medical response.

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted U.S. license as an Advanced EMT or Paramedic, with corresponding National Registry (NREMT) AEMT or EMT-P certification.
  • Current nationally accredited U.S. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Minimum one year of Advanced EMT or Paramedic experience in a busy 911 emergency response system.
  • Ability to assess and treat adult patients in prehospital settings, perform advanced life support interventions, and administer medications in accordance with protocols.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and respond calmly in emergencies.
  • U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) clearance; valid passport required before relocation and maintained throughout the assignment; ability to relocate to Wake Island for the duration of the assignment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an urgent care clinic, freestanding emergency department, or remote healthcare setting.
  • Prior military medical experience as an Army Health Care Specialist, Navy Corpsman, Air Force Medical Specialist, or equivalent Uniformed Services specialty.
  • Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) or Prehospital Trauma Course training; BLS instructor certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and treat patients in urgent and emergency situations, including providing prehospital care and advanced life support interventions within your scope of practice.
  • Assist the physician with clinical procedures, patient monitoring, documentation, and changes in patient condition.
  • Respond to medical emergencies outside the clinic and assist with medical evacuation coordination and patient preparation for transport.
  • Educate patients on health decisions and provide first aid and emergency response instruction as requested.
  • Maintain medical supplies, equipment readiness, inventory, and clinic operations.
  • Participate in emergency response training exercises and support patient care in accordance with established clinical protocols.
