About The Position

Baptist Health is the largest healthcare system serving central Alabama, providing comprehensive hospital-based and outpatient services to nearly 60 percent of the residents in Montgomery, Autauga and Elmore counties. Apply the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes (ICD-, CPT & modifiers) to inpatient or outpatient accounts for data retrieval, analysis and claims processing. Queries physicians via the Clinical Coders or Case Managers when needed to improve/clarify documentation on inpatient records.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years coding in acute care setting required.
• CCS, CIC or CCDS required
• Skill in the use of computers.
• Ability to effectively manage time and schedules.
• Ability to monitor and/or maintain quality control standards.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.

Nice To Haves

• RHIA or RHIT certification preferred.
