About The Position

As an Advanced Aerospace Systems Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace, you will help develop the next generation of flight-critical actuation systems that enable the safe and precise control of aircraft. Working within Honeywell Aerospace's Mechanical Systems and Components Organization, you will contribute to technologies that translate electronic commands into precise mechanical motion for some of the aerospace industry's most demanding applications. You will work closely with mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and test engineers to develop integrated aerospace systems that support: Primary and secondary flight control actuation systems, Electro-mechanical actuator development. This role provides the opportunity to influence products throughout the entire development lifecycle, from concept studies and system architecture through modeling, integration, qualification testing, production support, and product sustainment. You will solve complex multidisciplinary engineering challenges involving mechanical systems, controls, electronics, software, and system dynamics while helping deliver innovative aerospace solutions to customers around the world. You will report directly to our Sr Engineering Program Manager and work out of our Tempe, AZ location on a hybrid work schedule.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
Minimum of 3 years of Electro-mechanical Systems Engineering experience.

Nice To Haves

Advanced degree in Systems Engineering, Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Background in Electrical Engineering, including exposure to circuit design and motor control systems
Understanding of system and component development lifecycles
Experience working in Agile development environments
Familiarity with requirements management and requirements flow-down processes
Experience supporting root cause investigations and corrective action initiatives
Exposure to the development of motor-driven actuation systems
Knowledge of control architecture implementation within electronic controller applications
Experience with real-time hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) development and testing
Understanding of control theory concepts such as system dynamics, frequency response, stability margins, and system interactions
Proficiency with system modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Excel, or similar software
Familiarity with thermodynamics and fluid dynamics principles
Experience supporting system verification and validation (V&V) activities

Responsibilities

Perform system requirements analysis, decomposition, allocation, and traceability for complex aerospace actuation systems
Develop and integrate electro-mechanical actuation systems used in flight control applications
Support architecture development and system-level design trade studies
Develop physics-based models of actuators, motors, power transmission systems, sensors, and control systems
Analyze system performance, stability, dynamic response, reliability, and failure modes
Design and evaluate control architectures supporting flight-critical applications
Conduct modeling and simulation activities using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink and related platforms
Support development and integration of motor controllers, sensors, feedback devices, and embedded control systems
Define and execute verification and validation activities, including laboratory, subsystem, and system-level testing
Support Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), qualification, environmental, and functional testing efforts
Lead root cause investigations and corrective action implementation for complex technical issues
Interface directly with aerospace customers on technical requirements, system performance, and development activities
Provide technical leadership and mentorship across multidisciplinary engineering teams
