Riverside Medical Group is seeking a Full-Time Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner) to join our Hospitalist team at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia. As a Hospitalist APP, you will work collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary care teams to provide comprehensive inpatient care. The APP serves as a primary provider for hospitalized patients, managing medical care from admission through discharge while supporting quality, safety, and patient-centered outcomes.

Requirements

  • Acute Care Nurse Practitioners: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current or eligible Virginia Nurse Practitioner license.
  • National Board Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP).
  • Physician Assistants: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current or eligible Virginia Physician Assistant license.
  • Current certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Eligible for Virginia licensure at the time of hire.
  • DEA registration or ability to obtain prior to start date.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred based on practice setting.
  • Previous hospital medicine or inpatient clinical experience.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical care to hospitalized patients.
  • Perform patient assessments, formulate diagnoses, and develop treatment plans.
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as clinically indicated.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic studies and laboratory results.
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, nursing staff, case managers, and ancillary departments to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
  • Facilitate safe and effective discharge planning and transitions of care.
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in accordance with organizational standards.
