Riverside is currently seeking a Full-time Advanced Practice Provider to join our Hospitalist team at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester, Virgina.

Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner: Master’s or Doctoral degree (MSN or DNP) from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Physician Assistant: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Nurse Practitioner: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia.
  • Active Virginia Nurse Practitioner license with a specialty designation aligned to inpatient care.
  • National NP certification in the appropriate specialty: Hospitalist/Inpatient Medicine: Adult‑Gerontology Acute Care NP (AGACNP‑BC preferred)
  • Physician Assistant: Active and unrestricted Virginia PA license.
  • Current NCCPA certification.
  • Active DEA registration (or eligibility).
  • Eligibility for Schedule II–VI prescriptive authority in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Current BLS and ACLS (required for inpatient clinical settings).
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior inpatient or hospitalist experience preferred but not required.
  • New graduates with strong acute‑care clinical rotations are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (Epic preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct inpatient care in collaboration with Hospitalist physicians.
  • Conduct comprehensive history and physical examinations.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and labs.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the care team.
  • Perform procedures as credentialed and trained (e.g., central lines, intubation, etc.).
  • Participate in daily rounds, care coordination, and discharge planning.
  • Document all patient encounters accurately and timely in the EMR.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
