About The Position

Recognized as a proficient, highly skilled clinician who routinely demonstrates acquired in-depth knowledge about the care of a specific patient population in daily practice. Considers possibilities and probabilities as well as clinical and organizational factors when planning care to ensure the best possible outcomes for patient/families. Values the contributions of peers and multidisciplinary colleagues and routinely consults with and serves as a resource to others. Skillfully communicates with the patient, the patient's family, and other members of the healthcare team. Highly skilled clinician who provides dependable, effective and efficient care to a patient population using the nursing process.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), AND 18 months of recent nursing experience with a minimum of 12 months of experience in the area of concentration.
  • OR, Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with a minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience, with 12 months of experience in the area of concentration.
  • A valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing.
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS may be required for certain departments, post hire
  • Additional certifications may be required based on department and specialty
  • If completing virtual care activities that may include multi-state practice, an active compact/multistate license (eNLC) is required within 60 days of hire. Employees in role prior to 11/09/2025 will have until their next renewal date to achieve compact status.
  • Completion of VIP or EBP Project.
  • Must meet all Clinical Nurse I Employee Commitments.
  • Achieves points and contact hours as defined in the PLAN (clinical lattice) point system to maintain position.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates advanced assessment skills. Anticipates and understands the impact of nursing care on patient outcomes.
  • Frequently acts as a resource to other nurses/colleagues regarding patient care.
  • Documents the nursing process accurately and in the appropriate format (e.g. computer, clinical pathway, chart) and makes suggestions regarding changes to those processes.
  • Plans and implements patient care utilizing past experience and modifies plan of care for the individual patient's needs, including input from patient/family and their goals.
  • Evaluates and promptly alters the plan of care when necessary.
  • Anticipates patient and family learning needs and collaborates with patient/family to identify resources regarding those needs.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in using AACN Synergy model in clinical practice.
  • Manages time effectively and assists others with time management activities.
  • Develops or revises policies and procedures for a patient population incorporating the latest evidence-based research findings.
  • Delegates effectively and efficiently utilizing the Synergy model for care.
  • Works effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team, which includes patient/family advisors, and serves as a resource to other members.
  • Functions in a leadership role.
  • Functions as Charge Nurse when assigned.
  • Orients staff or students as assigned in absence of designated preceptor.
  • Explores ways to improve the use of resources and cost containment.
  • Promotes cohesive team behavior among peers and provides assistance/guidance as required.
  • Role models effective listening skills. Anticipates barriers to communication.
  • Takes responsibility for problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Modifies interventions based on a deep understanding of patient and family needs obtained through past experiences.
  • Advocates for their patient and challenges systems and practices; tries to identify patterns in systems and processes of care that impact on patient and families.
  • Demonstrates openness and inclusion of others' values.
  • Alters interpersonal exchanges to meet cultural differences.
  • Develops and values collaborative relationships with patients and families.
  • Resolves routine, non-routine, or complex issues on an independent basis; however, recognizes when an issue requires escalation.

  • Participates within the unit to identify and address discipline-specific issues and needs.
