The Adult Services Librarian promotes the mission and values of the Greene County Public Library by carrying out objectives and goals of the strategic plan to better serve the community. This role provides information services to adults and children using print and electronic sources. The position involves answering reference and reader's advisory questions, instructing library users, assisting in collection development, planning and presenting library programs, preparing displays and bibliographies, troubleshooting electronic resources, and assuming "person in charge" responsibilities in the absence of supervisors. The librarian is also responsible for opening/closing procedures, keeping abreast of current developments in the field, participating in professional groups, gathering statistics, preparing reports, and completing other assigned projects. The supervisor may require other related duties. The librarian must also attend conferences, workshops, seminars, and training to maintain knowledge, and stay informed by reading email, minutes, staff website, and attending staff meetings. Tasks of lower level classifications may be performed as necessary.
