About The Position

The Department of Psychiatry is seeking outstanding applicants for a clinical health sciences track adult psychiatry faculty position with clinician-educator or clinician-scholar interests. The successful candidates' clinical focus will be aligned with one or more areas of clinical expertise in the department, including, but not limited to board specialization in general adult psychiatry. This position offers a variety of clinical care settings. In addition to having an individual caseload of patients, the successful candidate may work in a team-based model of outpatient care and may have the opportunity to work in a collaborative care model. The successful candidate will supervise residents and medical students and may provide direct supervision in resident clinic. The position includes supervising residents taking call for the UW and VA Medical Center hospitals as well as sharing holiday call for the UW psychiatric units. The position includes protected time for academic interests and department-wide educational activities, and fellows. Requirements

  • Successful completion of residency in Psychiatry by start date of position.
  • WI Medical license by start date of position.
  • Board-certified or board eligible in Adult Psychiatry by start date of position.
  • Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges, by start date.
  • MD or DO, or equivalent is required.
  • Cover letter required

  • For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CHS track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS track.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric care for a variety of pediatric and/or adult patients across both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health.
  • An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
  • Teach medical students, interns, residents, and fellows.
