Adult Psychiatrist - Outpatient

Southwest Network Company BrandPhoenix, AZ
Onsite

About The Position

The role involves providing direct psychiatric care to adults with serious mental illness, including schizophrenia spectrum disorders, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, and treatment-resistant conditions. The psychiatrist will work collaboratively in a team-based model with other professionals such as psychiatrists, psychiatric NPs, PCP, pharmacist, nurses, case managers, and peer support specialists. The impact of this role is significant, as it involves providing comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnostic clarification, treatment planning, and ongoing psychopharmacologic management, including specialized treatments like clozapine and long-acting injectable antipsychotics. The psychiatrist will also integrate brief therapy during visits, consult with colleagues on complex cases, provide care for members on Court Ordered Treatment (COT), and coordinate with various healthcare teams during care transitions. There is also an opportunity to mentor and teach psychiatry residents. The organization emphasizes a mission-driven approach, focusing on community behavioral health since 1998, and offers a supportive, team-based care model with an outpatient-only focus. The call schedule is designed to be respectful of time, limited to several weeks per year, covering only critical lab results, with low call volume. Caseloads are manageable to prevent burnout.
