The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Aging Services (DAS) - Adult Protective Services (APS) is seeking candidates for the position of APS Central Intake Specialist. This position will be assigned to the office that is nearest the incumbent's residence and will be expected to travel throughout the state of Georgia when necessary. The hours for this position will be from 10 am to 7 pm.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; or one (1) year of experience at lower level APS Intake CM 1 (SSP180) or position equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years’ experience as an APS Investigator.
  • Experience working with a specific issue facing client populations such as family violence, crisis intervention, substance abuse, services to the elderly or disabled.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services program or related field.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and consistent access to a vehicle for required work-related activities.

Responsibilities

  • Gathers referral information from persons making the maltreatment report via telephone interviews, written reports or face to face contacts.
  • Assess APS referral information and make a determination as to whether or not the situation meets APS criteria.
  • Provides Information and Referral Services on situations that do not meet APS criteria.
  • Document pertinent referral information in Harmony in a thorough, accurate and clear manner.
  • For reports meeting APS criteria, document as an Investigation.
  • For reports that do not meet APS criteria, document as an Intervention.
  • Clear the name of the person referred in Harmony to determine if there is an active case or history.
  • Note findings in Harmony.
  • Completes an acknowledgement letter to the reporter unless receipt of the letter is waived.
  • “Save” the letter in the Central Intake Folder on the computer.
