The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking an Adult Protective Services Caseworker. This full-time position is located in Augusta, ME, and requires travel throughout Kennebec and Somerset. The role involves performing professional social work for incapacitated and dependent adults, including investigations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation, guardianship studies, and assessing decision-making capacity. The position also involves assessing the need for public guardianship, filing petitions, and testifying in court. The caseworker will investigate allegations, identify and arrange support services, conduct investigations in a timely manner, interview clients and collateral contacts, request and review records, document all activities, advocate for and coordinate services, maintain accurate case records, write summaries and reports, and exercise discretion in decision-making.
