About The Position

Mayo Clinic’s Department of Psychiatry and Psychology in Rochester, Minnesota, is seeking an outstanding adult psychiatrist to join its hospital-based psychiatry practice. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centered care as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team within a world-renowned quaternary medical center. This position offers a broad and flexible range of clinical opportunities spanning the continuum of acute and intensive psychiatric care. Based on the candidate’s interests and experience, clinical work may include the psychiatric emergency department, adult inpatient psychiatry unit, geriatric psychiatry unit, hospital consultation-liaison service, interventional psychiatry, and residential care. This breadth enables candidates to shape a practice that aligns with their clinical, research, educational, and administrative interests while contributing to an integrated system of psychiatric services. The position involves caring for patients with complex psychiatric and medical conditions requiring comprehensive evaluation and treatment. Psychiatrists work closely with colleagues in psychiatry, psychology, nursing, social work, pharmacy, and other medical and surgical specialties to develop individualized treatment plans and coordinate seamless transitions across levels of care. The practice serves patients from a national and international referral base, creating a clinically diverse and intellectually engaging environment. This role is particularly well suited for a psychiatrist who values interdisciplinary collaboration, diagnostic complexity, evidence-based treatment, and continuity of care. Candidates may develop or expand subspecialty expertise in areas such as geriatric psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, consultation-liaison psychiatry, and interventional psychiatry. Mayo Clinic provides strong mentorship and institutional support for academic productivity, professional development, scholarly activity, and collaborative research. The position also includes opportunities to teach and mentor psychiatry residents, fellows, medical students, and other health care professionals. Academic rank in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science will be granted commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will join a collegial, highly experienced multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering exceptional psychiatric care. This position is based in Rochester, Minnesota.

Requirements

  • Outstanding adult psychiatrist
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in psychiatry
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in Minnesota
  • Experience with complex psychiatric and medical conditions
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration, diagnostic complexity, evidence-based treatment, and continuity of care
