Begin Anew - Adult High School Equivalency Tutor
About The Position
The Adult High School Equivalency (HSE) Tutor will assist adult students in a classroom setting with preparation for the High School Equivalency (GED) test in one of five subjects: Math, Reading, Writing, Social Studies, Science. Instruction is one-on-one or in a small group. Tutors can request a subject they are most comfortable instructing in, and teaching materials with answer keys are provided by the Program Manager. The tutor will update each student’s weekly work log indicating subject areas studied and next steps, and develop relationships with students. Additionally, the tutor will assist the Childcare Coordinator with Story Time and Play Time, which may include infant care such as feeding and diapering. The role may also involve assisting the Program Manager in class setup for the evening.
Requirements
- Must have Federal Work-Study.
- Must have reliable means of transportation.
- Must have a computer and access to the internet.
- Ability to explain Math and/or English to adult students.
- Must be enrolled as a current student at Belmont University.
Nice To Haves
- Previous tutoring experience is a plus, but not mandatory.
