About The Position
This position is for an Adult Family Literacy English Instructor (ESL) at Richfield Central, part of the Metro South ABE (Adult Basic Education)/ESL Teachers program. The role involves teaching English to adult students from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. The position is effective August 24, 2026, with hours of 3 per day (2 hours of classroom instruction and 1 hour of non-instructional time) on Tuesdays and Thursdays, for 74 days per year. The pay is detailed in the Teacher Contract on the Bloomington Public Schools website (Schedule D).
Requirements
- Current MN Teaching Licensure: ESL
- Teaching English to adults in a Family Literacy program in a diverse environment
- Experience with CASAS, SiD, & Distance Learning
- Ability to build relationships with students and staff
- Experience utilizing volunteers in a classroom setting
- Knowledge and understanding of the 3 content standard areas for Adult Basic Education.
Responsibilities
- Teaching English to adult students from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Ongoing lesson planning, testing, and working with a team.
- Utilizing volunteers.
