About The Position

Provide classroom facilitation and student instruction in a self-paced learning center for Adult Education. This role involves remote and on-site instruction at both Adult Basic Education and High School Completion/Equivalency levels. Courses include Adult Basic Education Mathematics, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Consumer Math, and High School Equivalency Preparation Mathematics. The teacher will work with adults and at-risk students in a cooperative learning environment, participate in curriculum development aligned with Michigan content standards and College and Career Readiness standards, and manage classroom activities including student participation, behavior, NRS assessment testing, and record-keeping. Responsibilities also include monitoring attendance and assisting with student data compilation for grant accountability reports.

Requirements

  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate, EX-Secondary endorsement required.
  • Successful teaching experience with adult and/or alternative student population.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom facilitation and student instruction in self-paced learning center Adult Education classroom and/or remote instruction at both Adult Basic Education and High School Completion/Equivalency levels.
  • Teach Adult Basic Education Mathematics, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Consumer Math, and High School Equivalency Preparation Mathematics.
  • Work with adults and at-risk students in a cooperative learning environment.
  • Participate with other instructors in curriculum development within Michigan content standards guidelines and College and Career Readiness standards.
  • Assess students as needed per Adult Education Asssessment Policy.
  • Effectively manage classroom with regards to student participation, behavior, NRS assessment testing, and record-keeping responsibilities.
  • Monitor attendance and assist in compiling student data for periodic grant accountability reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
