About The Position

The Adult Education Instructor is responsible for designing and delivering instructional programs that help adult learners improve their literacy, numeracy, English language proficiency, and career readiness. The instructor fosters a supportive learning environment, adapts teaching methods to accommodate diverse student needs, and prepares learners for GED/HiSET completion, workforce training, or further academic pursuits.

Requirements

Bachelor Degree from accredited four-year institution
Excellent communication skills
Proficiency in instructional technology and general computer skills
Organized

Ability to maintain student private records
A life-long learner
Must be able to obtain FBI Fingerprint/Background clearance, LACES, TABE, CASAS, and other required certification.

Nice To Haves

Teaching experience, preferable in adult education, ESL, literacy programs.
Experience working with diverse populations, including ESL learners, at-risk students, or individuals with disabilities.
Preference is given to Missouri residents.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to adult learners in subjects such as English, math, reading, writing, GED/HiSET preparation, or ESL, while developing instructional materials aligned with state and institutional standards.
Utilize technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance student learning.
Assess students’ learning levels and goals, track progress, and provide individualized support to ensure success.
Maintain accurate attendance records and submit class reports.
Participate in 20 hours of DESE approved professional development to obtain and maintain AEL Certification.
Collaborate with college staff, workforce development partners, and local organizations to connect students with career and academic opportunities.
Engage in outreach efforts to promote the program and help students access college services and job placement.
