About The Position

This position provides classroom instruction to Adult Education (AE), English as a Second Language (ESL), and Adult Basic Education (ABE) GED® students. Instruction is delivered through lecture, demonstration, laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to questions, and testing. The role also involves performing related duties as required and teaching College and Career Ready (CCR) classes. This position is based in Sidney, Nebraska, and will work up to 20 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the requisite knowledge and skills is considered qualifying.
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record that does not exclude the driver from coverage under WNCC’s vehicle insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree and teaching experience is preferred.
  • Some experience in an instructional setting as a tutor or teacher is preferred.
  • A combination of education, experience, and certifications that demonstrates the candidate’s capability to teach the academic content as outlined by the Nebraska Department of Education.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with AE, ABE and ESL students, responsible for accurate assessment, instruction, and outcomes for student performance.
  • Actively participate in the registration, career pathways intake, and orientation process for students.
  • Take an active role in student data collection, including student attendance hours.
  • Provide instruction to meet all College and Career Readiness (CCR) standards.
  • Administer and evaluate student assessments.
  • Act as an advisor and counselor to GED® students, aiding in their progression through learning programs and disseminating information regarding adult basic education courses.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance, and maintain various records and databases according to program needs or requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to the required instructional area.
  • Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons, revise and improve lesson format, evaluate a variety of instructional material, and select books for assigned instructional classes.
  • Assist students in the operation and set-up of computers and audio-visual equipment.
  • Perform back-up instructional activities and proctoring for other instructors as needed.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
