About The Position

This position is funded by an Adult Education Supplemental grant and is dependent on ongoing funds from the grant. If ongoing funds are not received, this position will end. The Adult Education Instructional Facilitator will be instructing students enrolled in the Ogden School District’s Adult Education Program. They will be responsible for providing instruction, monitoring, and tutoring to adult education students who are enrolled in an IET, MLL, High School Diploma, or GED class. This role involves PM High School Tutoring and instructional facilitation in all subject areas.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 42 college credits is required
  • A minimum of 2 years experience instructing and/or tutoring individuals is required
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft/Google applications as well as other computer software applications
  • Must be proficient in classroom management.
  • Requires professionalism and excellent communication and organizational skills, including the ability to provide feedback and motivation to students.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working and/or tutoring at-risk individuals is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct instruction to students in a safe and productive learning environment
  • Assess student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes.
  • Plan appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities including determination of appropriate materials.
  • Implement an instructional program which provides appropriate experiences as per district and building requirements.
  • Continually assess student achievement through use of formal and informal assessments, maintaining appropriate assessment and initial or re-evaluation documentation for institutional and individual reporting purposes.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by the law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Maintain instructional materials, assessment tools, and specialized equipment/programs purchased for the program.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional materials and available multimedia and technology to enhance learning.
  • Utilize instructional materials and other educational resources in a competent and effective manner
  • Participate in professional development and staff development activities and staff meetings as required or assigned.
  • Communicate with students on expectations and keep them informed of their progress in meeting those expectations, as appropriate.
  • Manage allotted time to maximize student achievement.
  • Assist counselors, administration, and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student success.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of established District curriculum goals, establish and communicate clear objectives to the students for all lessons, units, and projects to support the district, program, and objectives.
  • Strive by instruction and action to employ the District’s philosophy of education, instructional goals and objectives, and performance expectations.
  • Develop a code of conduct for the classroom which is consistent with established administrative policies and develop rules of classroom expectations which are enforced in a fair and just manner.
