About The Position

Utica Community Schools is seeking Adult Education General Teachers to provide instruction in English as a Second Language, Adult Basic Education, or High School Completion courses. Instruction takes place in a classroom and uses methods geared toward adult learners. The teacher supports the State of Michigan’s and the district’s educational vision and mission, fosters learning for students across multiple ages and skill levels, and uses educational technology to support instruction. Monday through Thursday schedules are available, with both day and evening positions.

Requirements

Valid Michigan Elementary or Secondary Teaching Certificate.
Technology proficiency.
Ability to foster an effective learning environment for multiple age and skill levels.
Ability to implement multiple teaching methods, styles, and materials.
Ability to work cooperatively with other teaching and support staff.

Nice To Haves

English or Math major/minor preferred.
Demonstrated interest or experience working with adult students.

Responsibilities

Provide high-quality instruction aligned with the State of Michigan’s and the district’s educational vision and mission.
Teach English as a Second Language, Adult Basic Education, or High School Completion courses using methods appropriate for adult learners in a classroom setting.
Facilitate an environment that fosters the learning of all students.
Use educational technology to support student instruction and learning.
Develop and deliver daily lesson plans using differentiated techniques and strategies to help learners meet or exceed learning targets.
Analyze real-time data related to student learning.
Track student progress and communicate with students and administration.
Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with students, peers, and the community.
Follow policies and procedures outlined by the Supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned.
