Peer Support Specialist Location: Hannibal, MO Department: Adult Community Services Employment Type: Full-time Shift: Monday – Friday Job Summary: Are you passionate about empowering others and making a meaningful impact in your community? Join Centerstone as a Peer Support Specialist and help individuals thrive on their recovery journey! In this role, you’ll use your lived experience to support participants as they develop treatment plans, maintain communication with referral sources, collaborate in staffing to ensure continuity of care, provide crisis support when needed, and promote hope, recovery, and resilience every step of the way. Requirements

  • Self-identify as a current or former person of mental health or substance use services OR self-identify as a person in recovery from mental health or substance use disorder
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Staff is required to successfully complete 40 hours of prescribed classroom training with two (2) weeks following employment or demonstrate that they have previously received the certification training.
  • Driver's License and Auto Insurance
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: At least 2 years of consistent work history
  • License: Valid driver’s license
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • Basic computer proficiency

  • Prior experience in behavioral health or a related field is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Promote Recovery and Resilience: Provide individual or group services with a rehabilitation and recovery focus.
  • Cultivate Coping Skills: Help individuals manage psychiatric symptoms, utilize natural supports, and enhance community living.
  • Foster Community and Connections: Encourage clients to connect with others and their communities.
  • Empower Decision-Making: Assist individuals in making independent choices and taking an active role in their treatment.
  • Uncover Strengths: Help individuals identify personal strengths and resources to aid in their recovery.
  • Set Recovery Goals: Support clients in setting and achieving their recovery goals.
