Exciting opportunity for experienced Critical Care Registered Nurses to join a dynamic team providing support for acute shock patients requiring evolving technologies such as ECMO (ExtraCorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) and other hemodynamic circulatory support modalities. The Adult UR Cardiac Intensive Care Unit is proud to be able to provide our community with state of the art “Heart Care” serving all of Upstate NY and the North Country. The primary role of the Acute Shock Resource Nurse is to provide monitoring, support and education for the technology, the patients, the bedside CICU RN as well as all members of the team. Additional responsibilities include quality assurance and performance improvement activities in addition to data collection and input (i.e ELSO database).

Requirements

  • CCRN
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team in a fast paced challenging environment.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • 3-5 years of adult critical care experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with ECMO preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the first line clinical expert and staff resource for the patients in the Adult Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) who are dependent on various forms of life support.
  • Maintains competency for all forms of mechanical circulatory support including but not limited to: Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), Impella, and intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) including hybrid configurations.
  • Serves as an immediately available resource to the bedside RN for the care of patients in acute cardiogenic shock.
  • Provide monitoring, support and education for the technology, the patients, the bedside CICU RN as well as all members of the team.
  • Quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
  • Data collection and input (i.e ELSO database).
