About The Position

The ADRC Specialist serves as the initial point of contact for ADRC services, directing clients and potential clients to the appropriate team member for assistance. This role is also responsible for ensuring that required reporting is completed accurately and in a timely manner. The position receives general supervision from the ADRC Coordinator, with the supervisor setting overall objectives and the employee developing and executing projects in consultation. The work is reviewed from an overall standpoint.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of social work programs and processes.
  • Knowledge of community resources and support networks available to clientele served.
  • Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to relate to the elderly and their unique problems.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate office equipment.
  • Knowledge and ability to do basic arithmetic.
  • Ability to read and interpret guidelines and regulations and apply them to the job.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Social Work, Behavioral Sciences, Psychology, Geriatric Studies, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of work-related experience.
  • Ability to obtain the following certifications within twelve (12) months of hire: Inform USA’s Community Resources Specialist, Person Center Training (PCT), SHIP.

Responsibilities

  • Answering incoming calls to provide information, assistance, services, and referrals for older clients, adults with disabilities, caregivers, and the general public as a single point of entry to public long-term services and support. Rerouting incoming calls and walk-ins to the appropriate team member for assistance.
  • Attending meetings, conferences, and training as deemed appropriate by SARPC, ADSS, and the Alabama Medicaid Agency.
  • Inputting client intake information into the Peer Place information and referral program.
  • Reviewing appropriate reports, releases, brochures, and other materials to stay informed of the latest developments related to issues encountered by clients.
  • Completing required reporting as mandated by the program in a timely manner. Collecting required information for all reporting tools and any other information required by various fund sources, Medicaid, and ADSS.
  • Assisting clients with enrolling or updating enrollment for SHIP/Medicare benefits during annual open enrollment.
  • Completing the “Individual Interaction: Basic Interaction Forms” detailing outcomes of calls with SHIP clients, as well as the Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) reports.
  • Building community relations through professional referral interactions and community referral sources.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
