About The Position

The Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Adoption Recruiter plays a vital role in helping children in foster care achieve permanency through adoption. This position focuses on child-specific recruitment, building strong relationships with children and families, and collaborating with community partners and service providers to identify and support adoptive family matches. Support is delivered through ongoing assessment, individualized recruitment planning, diligent family search efforts, and active coordination with each child’s professional and personal support team. This position is funded through the nationally-recognized Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption’s Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field required
  • LSW required or eligibility for licensure required
  • One to two years of experience in the field required
  • One to two years of child welfare experience preferred
  • Knowledge of regulatory guidelines required
  • Valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and willingness for regular daily travel required
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a caseload of 12–16 children and work toward matching at least six Maine foster children annually with adoptive families using the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids child-focused recruitment model.
  • Conduct regular visits with children in foster care and maintain consistent monthly contact to assess well-being, strengths, needs, and preparedness for adoption.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with each child’s DHHS case worker and other key members of the child’s support team, including foster parents, GALs, teachers, and service providers.
  • Create and update individualized recruitment plans and child assessments on a quarterly basis.
  • Prepare children and families for adoption and promote recruitment meetings and events in alignment with Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program standards.
  • Maintain accurate case records, complete diligent searches as needed, and complete routine data entry and reporting.
  • Participate in evaluation activities and annual training opportunities as directed by Woodfords and the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.
