About The Position

Devereux is seeking a Habilitation Counselor to work with children ages 6-21 with IDD/BH/MH diagnoses. In this role, you will help unlock the full potential of individuals by implementing behavior management strategies. The youth in this program often have skill deficits in impulse control and emotion regulation due to trauma, leading to challenges in various life areas. As a Habilitation Counselor, you will supervise and assist individuals in implementing program plans to improve social, emotional, physical, and self-help skills. You will also develop lesson plans, ensure the safety of individuals, engage in daily activities, and address inappropriate behaviors. This position offers opportunities for learning and growth in behavioral health and human services, a supportive environment, an ASCEND- Career Accelerator Program, and paid training and professional development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or related degree required.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Proficient communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills (Proficient in Outlook, SharePoint, EHR, Microsoft office).
• Valid driver’s license must be maintained
• Candidates must be atleast 21 years of age.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience preferred (not required) working with individuals with psychological, emotional and behavioral disorders, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, and/or autism spectrum disorders.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and/or assists individuals in the implementation of program plans designed to improve social, emotional, physical and/or self-help skills.
• Develops drafts of D-PBIS Lesson Plans (D-PBIS = Devereux Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) for multi-disciplinary professional team review, approval and implementation
• Ensure the individuals you are working with are safe
• Engage in daily activities such as ADL’s, Recreational, and Social Activities with individuals
• Address and redirect inappropriate behavior of individuals you are working with
• Implement treatment plan goals and objectives
