About The Position

Devereux's Habilitation Counselors support children and adolescents ages 6-21 with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), Behavioral Health needs, Mental Health diagnoses, autism spectrum disorders, and emotional or psychiatric challenges. In this role, you will help youth build social, emotional, behavioral, physical, and self-help skills while providing structure, safety, and compassionate support each day.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or related degree required.
Education Evaluation required if education was acquired outside the U.S.
Ability to manage multiple tasks.
Proficient communication skills.
Proficient computer skills (Proficient in Outlook, SharePoint, EHR, Microsoft office).
Valid driver’s license must be maintained.
Candidates must be at least 21 years of age.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience preferred (not required) working with individuals with psychological, emotional and behavioral disorders, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, and/or autism spectrum disorders.

Responsibilities

Supervise and maintain the well-being of the individuals in your care at all times.
Participate in daily ADLs, recreational, and social activities to encourage growth, confidence, and independence.
Address and appropriately redirect inappropriate behaviors while reinforcing positive actions through supportive communication.
Implement individualized treatment plan goals and objectives while working collaboratively with the clinical team to support each person’s development.
