About The Position

Compass Health Center is a rapidly growing behavioral health organization and the largest provider of PHP/IOP programs and psychiatric services in Illinois. They are expanding their innovative programs and raising the standard for comprehensive care. A new location in Falls Church, Virginia, will launch in early 2027, building adolescent and adult programs from the ground up with experienced leadership. Compass believes in the power of community and connection, focusing on group-based programming. The Adolescent Group Therapist will facilitate evidence-based groups using modalities like CBT, DBT, and ACT, working with patients aged 12-18 in the Mood & Anxiety Program, with opportunities for cross-training in specialty programs such as School Refusal, OCD/Complex Anxiety, and Mental Health and Substance Use. This position is anticipated to start in mid-January 2027, with interviews beginning in September 2026.

Requirements

  • Psychologist or Master's level therapist
  • Hold or be eligible for a Master's level provisional or independent clinical license in Virginia
  • 1 + year of post-Master’s clinical experience, or a relevant master’s level internship
  • Possess a core skill set of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Experience with patients in crisis, and a strong passion for working within high acuity environments

Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing DBT/CBT skill groups, working with ages 12-18 years old
  • Providing crisis intervention and staff support, as needed
  • Developing and documenting treatment plans and weekly updates
  • Co-facilitating creative expression and other experiential therapeutic groups
  • Assisting program director in supporting families through phone coaching and follow-up calls
  • Checking in with treatment team about changes and progress for individual patients
  • Providing clinical observations and insights during interdisciplinary meetings
  • Providing individual support to patients, as needed
  • Providing support to other team members in various treatment groups
  • Providing guidance and support for milieu staff during skills and executive functioning therapy activities/instruction
  • Participating in discharge planning for patients
  • Other duties, as assigned
