About The Position

The System Health Lead directly oversees activities within their functional areas to improve the reliability and availability of system equipment. This role is crucial for advocating for equipment and facilities, prioritizing maintenance strategies (predictive, preventative, and corrective), and ensuring optimal system availability for mission deliverables while minimizing impacts to the Production schedule. The System Health Lead monitors operational asset performance, trends, and proactively addresses equipment bottlenecks and single point failures to foster a culture of operational excellence. They are also responsible for developing funding strategies, investigating equipment health issues, and enhancing maintenance program effectiveness.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
OR Master’s degree: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
OR PhD: N/A.
Ten (10) or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.
In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., High School diploma and 3 years nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).
Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.
The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP).
If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709.

Nice To Haves

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with either electrical/mechanical systems, chemical processing/recovery systems, machining equipment, or maintenance planning/scheduling.
Experience leading or supporting process improvement projects that resulted in increasing operational performance with in a production facility.

Responsibilities

Advocates for equipment and facilities, developing prioritizing methodology for areas of responsibility, including predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance, providing technical input for equipment sustainment.
Utilize the SAP Maintenance Application to prioritize and manage maintenance backlog across the Y-12 Complex.
Supports the development of a holistic asset management planning strategy to maximize system availability for mission deliverables, while reducing production schedule impacts.
Monitors operational asset performance and availability/reliability trends, reviewing data to make informed decisions.
Support Facility Health Review Committees in conducting consistent and comprehensive reviews of system health reports and equipment performance trends.
Develop a proactive culture by working with internal customers to understand production deliverables, prioritizing equipment bottlenecks and single point failures.
Identify areas for maintenance program effectiveness and efficiency enhancements, collaborating with cross-functional teams for process improvements.
Develop Future Years Nuclear Security Program (FYNSP) funding strategies that minimize risk and maximize asset capabilities and reliability/optimization.
Develop investigation reports and analysis studies in coordination with Reliability Engineering to identify equipment health issues, defects, and root causes for failures.
Monitor the execution of preventative maintenance programs to ensure expectations are met.
Utilize the Ranking Index for Maintenance Expenditures (RIME) number within the SAP Prioritize Work Application to establish expectations for executing maintenance and engineering tasks.
Serve as the management system owner for tools used for system health monitoring, including resolving issues affecting report generation and incorporating improvement suggestions.
