About The Position

The Production Support Specialist assists the Production Support Manager in the technical execution and integration of daily production work activities. This role is responsible for supporting the development of daily work schedules and job assignments, monitoring, coordinating, and resolving issues related to production schedules, facility condition, and equipment/tooling availability. The specialist will also serve as a relief supervisor as requested, support shift and pre-job briefings, and develop and monitor operating and procedural practices, ensuring required documentation is completed accurately and timely. Additionally, the role involves identifying and implementing Lean/7S improvements, supporting Production Operations management in liaison with bargaining unit employees, overtime management, training status, staffing actions, and other personnel activities. The specialist performs other duties as assigned to provide leadership in maintaining safe working conditions, proactively preventing injuries, contaminations and exposures, and supporting the safe, efficient, and effective flow of work within the production area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience OR PhD: No experience
  • Participation in the Beryllium program
  • Meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., High School diploma and 3 years nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative)
  • Twelve or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.
  • Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
  • Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP).
  • Candidates accepting a job offer will be required to pass a pre-placement physical, drug screening and background investigation.
  • As an employee, you may be required to receive and maintain a security clearance from the United States Department of Energy in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to sensitive information or matter.
  • U.S. citizenship is a requirement for security clearance applicants.
  • All employees are subject to being randomly selected for drug testing without advance notification.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of related production and facility support equipment and maintenance processes is preferred
  • A commitment to continuous process improvement and lean/7S concepts is desired
  • Demonstrated understanding of Conduct of Operations and Integrated Safety Management System principles and requirements is required
  • Working knowledge of Nuclear Criticality Safety and Nuclear Materials Control and Accountability principles and requirements is preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of Issues Management System and development of effective corrective action plans is desired
  • Typical relevant experience ranging from 7 to 10 years
