About The Position

The HFMG Admixture Technician II is responsible for performing all duties of the Admixture Technician I while independently preparing sterile Intravenous (IV), Intramuscular (IM) and Subcutaneous (SC) admixtures including antineoplastic therapies and biologics, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The HFMG Admixture Technician II participates in staff communications, completing competency assessments, and serving as a formal preceptor for associates. The HFMG Admixture Technician II maintains patient confidentiality, supporting quality and performance improvement activities. The HFMG Admixture Technician II resolves clinical documentation issues, liaising between healthcare teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, and assists with medication purchasing reconciliation.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) or more years of pharmacy technician or related experience
  • One (1) or more years of sterile admixtures with at least 6 months of that year preparing hazardous medications.
  • Current State of Florida Pharmacy Technician registration OR Current State of Florida Pharmacy intern registration required.
  • Prior experience with IV admixture and sterile preparations.

Nice To Haves

  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification by the Pharmacy Training Certification Board (PTCB).
  • Two (2) or more years of sterile IV, IM and SC admixture and hazardous medication preparation.
  • Knowledge of USP <797 and <800> Board of Pharmacy standards

Responsibilities

  • Prepares IV, IM, and SC admixtures independently, including antineoplastic therapies and biologics, using aseptic technique and utilizing proper aseptic and sterile compounding techniques to ensure medication accuracy, quality, and patient safety.
  • Ensures compliance with safety, regulatory, and organizational policies related to medication preparation and handling.
  • Participates in pharmacy staff meetings and reviews all relevant communications to remain current on operational updates.
  • Serves as a formal preceptor for new and existing associates, leading onboarding, training, and ongoing competency development. Holds accountability for evaluating performance and providing final competency validation and sign-off in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times and ensures the accurate preparation and generation of labels, reports, and related documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Collects and documents relevant data, supports quality monitoring efforts, and participates in performance improvement initiatives designed to enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Identifies, investigates, and helps resolve clinical documentation issues while recommending process improvements to promote documentation accuracy, workflow efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Serves as a liaison between nursing, providers, and benefit advisors to support efficient and coordinated patient care.
  • Adheres to established departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, including applicable United States Pharmacopeia (USP) <797> and <800> guidelines, to support compliant, safe, and effective sterile compounding and hazardous drug handling practices.
  • Completes ordering practices and supports the Infusion Pharmacy Buyer with weekly medication purchasing reconciliation and reporting activities in accordance with contracts and supply chain.
