About The Position

The Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center is looking for a Admixture/Pharmacy Technician to join their team. This is a specialized and ever-changing field. The role involves preparing, maintaining, and delivering medications for patients. The pharmacy department has both retail and admixture departments. This role allows technicians with strong retail experience to build on their skills and work towards higher levels of the pharmacy technician scope. The role also supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. The general pay scale for this position is $19.00 - $46.80, with the actual hiring rate dependent on factors such as prior work experience, education, job responsibilities, location, work performance, and internal equity. This is a 1.0 FTE Full-time position with varied shifts, potentially starting at 4:00 am. Training will be provided in Albany, OR for 4-6 weeks.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent education
  • 1 – 3 years of experience in a pharmacy
  • Pharmacy Tech Certificate Required

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing medications.
  • Checks all orders for completeness of information. Verifies patient information and proper physician authorization.
  • Admixes drugs as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner as per department guidelines and preparing all drugs within OSHA guidelines and interoffice guidelines.
  • Calculates correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.
  • Properly disposes all materials used when mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs.
  • Assists in cleaning hoods daily checking drugs monthly for outdates and other quality assurance activities as assigned.
  • Assists in keeping accurate temperature logs, accurate logs on all protocol drugs and patient assistance drugs.
  • Maintains proper control documentation of medications including lot numbers.
  • Provide support with inventory control of medications.
  • Prepares labels.
  • Files and prepares billing.
  • Basic data entry into department automation.
