About The Position

Position Summary: Obtains demographics, insurance information and signatures from patients; receives authorization form and obtains authorizations; places ID bracelets on patients' wrists; collects payments and discharges patients.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from high school and one (1) year of experience in admissions in a hospital or medical office setting.
  • Must have open availability to work various hours including days, nights, and weekends.
  • Must be well versed in Commercial insurance, Medicare & Medicaid both FFS and HMO plans
  • Minimum two years recent experience (within the last 5 years) of Admitting. experience in a fast-paced Hospital and/or Primary Care/Urgent Care Clinic - with a Focus on Front Office Skills.
  • Must have knowledge of Workers Comp coverage.
  • Knowledge of office theories and principles
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of insurance carriers and reimbursement schedules
  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology
  • Knowledge of department and hospital safety practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of patient rights
  • Knowledge of infection control policies and practices
  • Knowledge of handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials
  • Knowledge of department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of age specific patient care practices.
  • Skill in performing basic mathematical computations
  • Skill in using computers and related software applications
  • Skill in using standard office equipment such as phones, copiers and facsimiles
  • Skill in typing and ten key
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties
  • Skill in communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds under stressful conditions
  • Skill in effective, efficient and safe use of equipment.
