About The Position

The Patient Account Registrar interviews patients or their representatives to obtain demographic information and secures insurance information, eligibility, benefits, and authorizations as applicable. The role works across the Admitting department, including PBX operator functions and reception areas, and uses a computer to input and retrieve data. The clerk must communicate effectively with the population served using age-specific techniques for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, young adult, middle adult, and geriatric patients, and maintain proficiency in medical terminology. Special projects or other assignments may be given with deadlines for completion. St. Francis Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare institution serving the Los Angeles community. Requirements

Customer service experience required.
High school graduate or GED equivalent required.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize needs to meet required timelines.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
