As a compassionate member of the care team, the Admissions Specialist will welcome patients and their families upon arrival, putting them at ease and setting a positive tone for their visit. This role is crucial for ensuring electronic health record integrity by accurately gathering complete demographic information, consistent with high reliability organization principles. The specialist will also identify correct network coverage, obtain/validate healthcare benefits, and secure pre-certification for applicable tests and procedures to maximize reimbursement. Additionally, they will educate patients and/or families about legal, ethical, and compliance documents, ensure regulatory consents are signed, and manage financial obligations by preparing estimates and collecting co-payments, deposits, and patient balances. The role also involves completing essential payor and government required elements, such as the MSPQ, Important Message from Medicare (IMM), and medical necessity checking (ABN and Letter of Non-Coverage), while maintaining customer service and productivity guidelines.
