As a compassionate member of the care team, the Admissions Specialist I will welcome patients and their families upon arrival, putting them at ease and setting a positive tone for their visit. This role involves accurately gathering complete demographic information to ensure electronic health record integrity, identifying correct network coverage, and obtaining/validating healthcare benefits and pre-certification for applicable tests and procedures to maximize reimbursement. The specialist will also educate patients and families about legal, ethical, and compliance documents, ensure regulatory consents are signed, and explain financial obligations, preparing estimates and collecting co-payments and patient balances. Additionally, they will ensure all payor and government required elements are completed correctly, stay updated on regulations, and comply with operating systems, entity, and system policies and procedures. The role requires maintaining customer service and productivity guidelines, mentoring peers, exhibiting flexibility, adapting to change, participating in staff meetings, process improvement, special projects, and completing other assigned duties. The team member is responsible for maintaining daily Epic work queues and their personal Employee Scorecard Dashboard, as well as staying aware of and accurate with THR contracted insurance plans, and communicating potential financial implications to patients and families.
