About The Position

CUMBERLAND HEIGHTS is seeking a dedicated Admissions Registered Nurse to join their team. The Staff Nurse/RN plays a crucial role in supporting this mission by providing cost-effective, high-quality care. The position involves planning and delivering nursing care to detoxification and rehabilitation patients, overseeing LPNs and medical/clinical assistants, and reporting to the Charge Nurse or Nursing Shift Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required.
  • Current Tennessee RN license in good standing is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience.
  • One (1) year of medical/surgical nursing experience required.
  • CPI, First Aid/CPR and automatic external defibrillation certification required or eligible.
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft (Outlook, Word and Excel).
  • Ability to quickly learn and use various clinical software.
  • Ability to problem-solve, analyze, and interpret information.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and patient needs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and make crucial decisions while also knowing when consultation is needed.
  • Ability to be open and culturally sensitive to a wide variety of patients’ experiences.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively speak, read, and write in English.
  • Ability to interact with patients and co-workers in a collaborative and courteous manner while providing guidance, instruction, and/or training.
  • Ability to apply information regarding cultural/age/population specific characteristics to patient care.
  • Reacts productively to change.
  • Ability to de-escalate a person in crisis in a calm and supportive manner; work calmly and professionally in stressful situations and ally with people in crisis.
  • If recovering, two (2) years of verifiable abstinence required.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year behavioral/healthcare nursing experience preferred.
  • Psychiatric/chemical dependency nursing certification preferred.
  • Active participation in a twelve-step program preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, implements/supervises, and evaluates the care of detoxification patients based on initial chemical dependency and nursing assessments, as well as pertinent clinical findings.
  • Reviews admission chemical dependency assessments and completes nursing assessments and care plans on admissions, investigating any indicated medical/psychiatric problems within established time frames.
  • Interprets, transcribes, implements, or supervises the implementation of physician’s orders according to established policies and procedures.
  • Triage all rehabilitation patients, treating and referring according to physician’s orders and established policies and procedures.
  • Oversees the work of LPNs and medical and clinical assistants as assigned.
  • Maintains clear, accurate, and timely documentation.
  • Performs CPR and First Aid as needed, as well as automatic external defibrillation according to established policies and procedures.
  • Responds to medical emergencies on campus, directing interventions until senior nursing management, physicians, or paramedics arrive.
  • Documents pertinent clinical information into the electronic patient record.
  • Ensures that a welcoming, safe, and healing environment is maintained for each patient and family throughout the continuum of care.
  • Recommends ways to improve the quality and delivery of services.
  • Maintains confidentiality of company and patient information.
  • Reacts productively to change.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
