About The Position

Meridell Achievement Center is a 134-bed, seclusion free, psychiatric residential treatment facility located northwest of Austin. Our 60-acre campus is complete with mature oaks, rolling hills, and plenty of walking paths and outdoor spaces. We have 7 unique living units separated by gender, age, and development needs with a swimming pool, gymnasium, sports court and playing fields. We provide 24-hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 10 to 17 years old with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs to teach young patients to moderate their behavior, manage emotions and improve social functioning. Meridell Achievement Center is seeking a dynamic Admissions Registered Nurse (RN) to fill in on weekends and occasionally on weekdays. Work will include assisting the admissions department and working directly with pediatric patients on the units.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current Texas Registered Nurse License
Current driver license.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.
High level of initiative, motivation, independent judgment.
Demonstrate effective organization.
Develop and implement patient care services within discipline.
Consistently exhibit mental ability to understand and perform the essential functions of the job.
Ability to initiate and implement all phases of the nursing process.
Provide safe nursing care.
Understand patient rights.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
One year psychiatric / neuropsychiatric experience with adolescents and / or young adults in a long-term hospital or residential setting preferred.
Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness, preferred.
Situational evaluation and crisis intervention, preferred.
