About The Position

This position is responsible for providing support in the document management and application processing for the undergraduate admissions office. Responsibilities include the daily processing of prospective student applications into the University's student database, evaluation of official secondary and postsecondary transcripts and applying University admission criteria in determining an admission decision for the applicant. This position also creates, maintains, and organizes student records using an imaging system and University student system software. Under the direction of the Assistant Director for Undergraduate Admissions Processing, the Admissions Processor assists in developing office processes and procedures to ensure work is effectively and accurately completed. The Admissions Processor may also be required to assist in the training of new staff. The Admissions Processor is a vital part of the work conducted within the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and in ensuring the University 's attainment of new student enrollment goals.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and one (1) year of office administration experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Ability to organized workload to ensure deadlines are met and schedule work assignments in priority or date received order.
  • Experience with computer and internet operations required.
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).
  • Knowledge of academic systems, standards and practices (or ability to rapidly assimilate).
  • Ability to analyze problems and determine appropriate solutions within a framework of general policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with wide populations verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced and highvolume department
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous admission experience and/or familiarity with application processes preferred
  • Previous PeopleSoft experience preferred
  • Previous experience with Perceptive Content or other similar document imaging and maintenance system.
  • Knowledge of admission rules and regulations, FERPA, and university policies.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support in application processing for new and returning students.
  • Downloads all new student applications into the Universitys student database, and enters student data accurately and efficiently.
  • Processes readmit (returning student) applications.
  • Determines residency status according to state regulations.
  • Prints officially downloaded transcripts.
  • Evaluates secondary and postsecondary academic transcripts based on University criteria.
  • Manually enters transferable credit from students previous institution.
  • Accurately follows University application guidelines and state education regulations, and determines and administers admission decisions based on University criteria.
  • Assists in training of new staff in application processing.
  • Assists student workers with imaging, indexing, document identification and redaction as needed.
  • Assists in test downloading process.
  • Handles and intakes basic correspondence, and generates memos and letters to respond to or to facilitate student requests for assistance.
  • Runs various reports accurately as needed during peak season or in preparation for admission related events.
  • Attends admission staff meetings as a critical part of information sharing.
  • Corresponds with Registrars Offices at other Colleges/Universities, relative to the authenticity of and verification of official transcripts.
  • Prepares and provides statistical and other reports of work performed; assists with other clerical, administrative support, or general tasks as required.
  • Assists in monitoring and providing responses to emails sent via the Admissions processing inbox.
  • Enters any additional documentation needed to complete the application process.
  • Resolves requests for adjustments on applications as well as make corrections and updates to applicant information in the student information system.
  • Assist in clean up and purging of files by 12th class day by separating enrolled and nonenrolled applicants.
  • Places and removes holds on students record for those who are lacking credentials or checklist items.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the Undergraduate Admissions office.
