Requirements

  • 1 year of clerical experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred
  • Strong communication, customer service skills, and empathy
  • Proficient with computers, office systems, and related software
  • Working knowledge of health insurance processes and systems
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to assist across tasks as needed
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English, including medical billing terminology
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with medical terminology, billing, and data entry preferred
  • May be exposed to bodily fluids and communicable illnesses
  • Able to lift, push, or pull 25-50 lbs. unassisted
  • Adequate vision and hearing (with or without assistive devices)

Responsibilities

  • Provide front-line customer service, including courteous phone coverage and daily quality assurance rounds (odor-free, obstacle-free environment)
  • Conduct facility tours for prospective residents, families, and responsible parties
  • Coordinate resident admissions with internal departments and external healthcare partners
  • Build and maintain referral relationships with discharge planners, case managers, and physicians
  • Complete admission paperwork and support residents in care planning and decision-making preferences
  • Assist with resident orientation in accordance with facility procedures
  • Enter and maintain accurate information in EMR and other systems
  • Support communication between departments to ensure smooth admissions and transitions
  • Complete additional duties as assigned
