The primary purpose of the Admissions Director is to support facility operations by increasing the facility census. This role involves managing the admissions process efficiently to ensure a positive experience for residents, families, and supporting staff. The director is responsible for planning, directing, and monitoring the daily operations of the Admissions Department to ensure budgeted resident census goals are met and that residents are admitted professionally and efficiently. This includes screening patients, completing admission and financial responsibility forms, and confirming insurance benefit coverage. The role requires collaboration with other facility departments to ensure timely communication and an enhanced admissions experience. The Admissions Director must maintain a comprehensive understanding of facility services, educate referral sources, and oversee patient bed assignments and preliminary paperwork. They are also responsible for creating a warm, positive, and calm environment within the facility and completing the resident intake process in coordination with the Director of Nursing and/or Case Manager. Additionally, the role involves initiating, nurturing, and maintaining contacts with physicians, social workers, and discharge planners to maximize referrals and facilitate admissions. The Admissions Director must attend daily stand-up meetings, be familiar with emergency procedures, and maintain the confidentiality of resident care information. They may also assist in planning and executing outreach events and updating their knowledge through educational opportunities.
