About The Position

The purpose of this position is to coordinate student recruitment and admission activities for applicants. The position will serve as a resource, providing information on College programs to interested applicants. The Admissions Counselor will organize, plan, and execute strategic enrollment management plans, build target budgets to grow applications and enrollments, and conduct recruitment efforts with high schools, colleges, and healthcare facilities within an assigned territory. This role involves counseling prospective students on admissions policies, program requirements, and prerequisite courses, as well as collaborating with academic advisors to ensure student success. The position also identifies opportunities for program expansion, supports the Financial Aid Office, and identifies areas for continuous improvement in curriculum, admissions standards, and processes. Recommendations and enhancements are provided to management, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
  • Valid and current Iowa driver’s license.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to travel overnight.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years’ experience in admissions and/or a higher education environment preferred.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes, plans, and executes strategic enrollment management plans with program chairs and academic leadership.
  • Builds target budget to grow applications and enrollments.
  • Researches, determines, plans, implements and conducts on and off-campus recruitment with high schools, colleges, and healthcare facilities within assigned territory.
  • Counsels prospective students and applicants regarding College admissions’ policies and procedures, program admission requirements and procedures, and prerequisite course requirements and equivalences.
  • Collaborates with academic advisors to ensure student success from inquiry to graduation.
  • Identifies and evaluates opportunities for program expansion through regional and national partnerships.
  • Supports the Financial Aid Office by providing information about options and resources for funding.
  • Identifies areas for continuous improvement to curriculum, admissions standards, transferability of credit, process improvement, and pricing structure.
  • Provides recommendations and enhancements to management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
