About The Position

The Admissions Counselor at The Ohio State University at Mansfield is responsible for managing a recruitment territory, executing recruitment activities and events, and developing relationships with educational institutions and organizations. This role involves travel to represent the university, making recruitment calls, and utilizing technology like Salesforce and Peoplesoft for data entry. Additional duties include counseling students and families on application and enrollment policies, conducting presentations, resolving problems, assisting with recruitment events, coordinating special programs (transfer, veterans, College Credit Plus), managing administrative tasks for student enrollment, collaborating with colleagues and campus partners, participating in committees, and completing special assignments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Early morning, evening, and weekend hours required

Nice To Haves

  • One to two years of relevant experience preferred
  • Experience with program planning and implementation
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Familiarity with office desktop technology and CRM and other recruitment technology platforms

Responsibilities

  • Managing a recruitment territory
  • Executing territory specific recruitment activities and events using data to make recruitment decisions
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with high schools, community-based organizations, and community colleges
  • Traveling to high schools, community colleges, and college fairs to represent The Ohio State University (possible travel within Ohio up to 7 weeks per year)
  • Making recruitment calls to prospective students
  • Using CRM (Salesforce), Student Information System (Peoplesoft), and other technologies for data entry regarding student application information, call/email/text activity, and other processes
  • Counseling and corresponding with students, families, university departments, or other stakeholders regarding The Ohio State University application and enrollment policies, procedures, and general information over the phone, via email, and in person
  • Conducting large and small-group presentations
  • Learning and maintaining knowledge of office and university areas to direct questions from staff and guests
  • Researching and resolving problems in a timely manner and escalating them when appropriate
  • Assisting with on and off campus recruitment events and projects
  • Coordinating recruitment for special programs, as assigned, which may include transfer, veterans, and College Credit Plus
  • Serving as the coordinator for administrative tasks that support recruitment and enrollment of new students
  • Carrying out steps and coordinating with colleagues and other campus partners to achieve success
  • Participating as an active community member of the Ohio State Mansfield admissions team through membership on committees
  • Completing special assignments and other duties as assigned
