About The Position

The Admissions Counselor will report to the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Services and participate in the full range of University admission responsibilities. This includes traveling to secondary schools, college fairs, and other recruiting events, interviewing prospective students, reviewing applications, and assuming other projects as assigned. The role assists in enrolling academically qualified students in accordance with the mission of the University, maintains frequent contact with prospective students, parents, and other counselors, demonstrates understanding and sensitivity to the needs of all students, and has a working knowledge and commitment to utilizing social media while performing duties in accordance with the values of a private comprehensive institution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Excellent public speaking, communication, customer service, analytical and organizational skills.
  • A commitment to the value and mission of a comprehensive education, as well as to diversity and inclusiveness.
  • Ability to travel for recruiting purposes and work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access).
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Must possess and maintain valid driver's license, pass the University’s Decision Driving Program, and maintain insurability under the University’s vehicle insurance plan.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with social media, including content creation (emphasis on shooting and editing video) on major social media platforms is preferred.
  • Familiarity with student information systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the full range of University admission responsibilities, including traveling to secondary schools, college fairs, and other recruiting events.

  • Utilizes social media while performing duties.
  • Manages territory management, with travel to secondary schools, college fairs, and related recruitment events.
  • Conducts research on territory to meet goals and objectives.
  • Provides the highest level of customer service.
  • May assist with the implementation of admission visit programs.
  • May assist with supervising student workers or volunteers.
