About The Position

Under general supervision of the Health Services Administrator, the Admissions Counselor directs the admissions program of the Health Center and is responsible for generating business from referrals sources to meet the community’s revenue and census goals. This is a combined role managing internal admission flow and external marketing. As a representative and team member of the company, this position is expected to present oneself in a manner that reflects professionalism and ensures resident satisfaction. Internal Admission Flow includes: Reviews inquiries for admissions; liaisons with case managers and discharge planners; marketing visits to acute care hospitals; finding and following up on leads; providing information about the HC and gives tours to prospective clients; determines payer status, obtain prior authorization. Maintains an established Health Center census by developing relationships with referral sources and ensuring adequate referrals are maintained. External Marketing; developing relationships with community hospitals, physician offices, community health clinics and other community outreach programs. This position contributes to the success of Human Good by coordinating external professional relationships for the community as a whole with an emphasis in skilled nursing components of senior living in an effort to achieve the highest possible occupancy within budgetary and regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

  • AA Degree with Administration, Business or a related field.
  • Two or more years in a related field that demonstrates the ability to work in a long term care setting, preferably with geriatric residents, admissions and a marketing background in lieu of education.
  • Medical or business office education or training desired.

Responsibilities

  • Develops relationships with community hospitals, physician offices, community health clinics and other community outreach programs
  • Coordinates implementation of Health Center admission policies and procedures in cooperation with the Health Center Administrator and Post-Acute Liaison to meet company standards and governmental regulations.
  • Processes new referrals that arrive by health system referral software portals, telephone, email, fax and website inquiries, in the manner best fitting the needs of the referral source, obtaining sufficient admission and insurance information in order to ensure appropriate and timely admissions.
  • Maintains communication with pending residents, their families, and referral sources and routinely follow the progress of prospective patients and those referrals not taken.
  • Participates as a member of the occupancy development team by: actively seeking new referral sources; developing and maintaining positive relationships with referral sources; assist in developing strategies and plans for Site and Company growth; participating in marketing meetings, staff meetings, department meetings, staff meetings, in-services, committees, community-education events and other activities as needed.
