About The Position

The College of Western Idaho (CWI) is seeking an energetic, student-focused Admissions Counselor to serve as a key ambassador for the College throughout the Treasure Valley and beyond. This role blends relationship-building, outreach, event coordination, and student support to help prospective students confidently navigate admissions, onboarding, and available college resources. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and relationship-builder who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys engaging with diverse communities, and is excited to make a lasting impact on student success. Evening, weekend, and regional travel within CWI’s service area are part of this dynamic and rewarding opportunity.

Requirements

  • Associate degree
  • At least one year of experience working in a community college setting preferably in the Dual Credit, Registrar, Admissions, Student Enrichment or Financial Aid office.
  • Strong technical abilities: database systems, presentation software, Microsoft Office suite or equivalent.
  • Strong cross-cultural interpersonal and writing skills are necessary, including public speaking skills and ability to represent the college in a positive way to all populations.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the assigned recruitment territory and to off-site events as required.
  • Reliable transportation to fulfill travel requirements is required.
  • All candidates must reside within, or be willing to relocate to, a reasonable commuting distance from CWI.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Ellucian Colleague ERP or other major ERP systems preferred but not required
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Build Recruitment Pipelines & Community Partnerships: Cultivate partnerships with high schools, community organizations, workforce agencies, and prospective student populations. Represent CWI at high school visits, college fairs, workforce events, campus events, and community outreach opportunities. Serve as a visible ambassador of the College by promoting CWI programs, opportunities, and student resources. Travel throughout assigned recruitment territories to strengthen community connections and support enrollment initiatives.
  • Guide Students Through the Enrollment Journey: Conduct one-on-one admissions appointments, campus tours, classroom presentations, workshops, and recruitment sessions for students and families. Provide accurate guidance on admissions requirements, academic programs, financial aid processes, transfer pathways, and student resources. Support students through the admissions and onboarding process by delivering timely communication, follow-up, and referrals to campus services. Assist with orientation and new student onboarding efforts designed to promote student success and transition to college.
  • Coordinate Recruitment Events & Campus Experiences: Coordinate and support campus visitation programs, admissions events, Open Houses, orientations, and outreach activities. Manage scheduling, event logistics, communication, and execution to ensure successful recruitment experiences. Prepare, transport, and set up recruitment materials, displays, and event equipment for outreach initiatives. Participate in occasional evening, weekend, and overnight recruitment activities as needed.
  • Manage Recruitment Operations & Student Data: Document student interactions, outreach efforts, appointments, and follow-up activities in CRM and student information systems. Utilize recruitment technologies, reporting tools, virtual platforms, and databases to enhance student engagement and workflow efficiency. Assist with data collection, reporting, and assessment of recruitment initiatives and student engagement outcomes. Maintain calendars, outreach records, and operational communications to support efficient service delivery.
  • Foster Collaboration, Compliance & Student-Centered Service: Partner with Admissions, One Stop, and Enrollment & Student Services teams to support recruitment and student success initiatives. Maintain current knowledge of admissions requirements, financial aid processes, institutional policies, and compliance standards. Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, committee work, and institutional initiatives. Demonstrate professionalism, cultural awareness, accountability, and a commitment to exceptional customer service for students, families, and community partners.
