About The Position

The Admission Counselor reports to an Associate Director of Admission within the Office of Enrollment Management. This role is responsible for the recruitment and enrollment of students for both undergraduate and graduate programs across all colleges at The New School, including Parsons School of Design, Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, the College of Performing Arts, and The New School for Social Research.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree
excellent public speaking and interpersonal skills
a valid driver’s license
a passport for international travel

Nice To Haves

Experience working in a multi-disciplinary higher education environment
proficiency with CRM databases (e.g., Slate)
experience in visual art and design, having either achieved a BFA or worked as an admission counselor in art and design admission

Responsibilities

Traveling extensively across the U.S. and internationally to represent all university programs at high schools, college fairs, and professional conferences.
Evaluating a wide range of applications and academic credentials to determine eligibility for the university’s diverse degree offerings.
Serving as a liaison between the Office of Admission and faculty across various departments—from design and social sciences to humanities and the arts—to coordinate application reviews and student yield efforts.
Assisting with the coordination of large-scale on-campus recruitment events, open houses, and orientation sessions for the entire university community.
Managing outreach to prospective students and families across all disciplines via phone, email, and social media to communicate the unique value of a New School education.
Lead/serve on department wide speciality and project teams, focused on admission events, communications, recruitment planning and marketing, and other key enrollment services, as assigned.
