The Office of Admissions is a unit within the Division of Student Services & Enrollment Management, comprising over 50 staff dedicated to undergraduate recruitment, outreach, and admissions decisions. This position is part of the recruitment & outreach team, which serves as the initial point of contact for thousands of prospective students and their families. The team is committed to empowering students throughout the college preparation, search, and choice process, regardless of their final enrollment decision. The university is expanding this team to enhance its recruitment efforts. As a member of the Student Services & Enrollment Management team, the Admissions Counselor represents the University of Oregon (UO) to prospective students, their families, and school/community contacts. This role involves independently developing and implementing recruiting initiatives to meet application and enrollment goals, as well as conducting holistic review of freshman applications for assigned territories. The Counselor will plan recruitment strategies, including high school visits, area receptions, and individual meetings. Responsibilities also include participating in search committees, event planning, and other student recruitment projects, with frequent collaboration with campus partners. This position is a front-line service provider responsible for student admission counseling, recruitment travel, and management of assigned geographic areas. It requires significant independent judgment and autonomy in work planning, local representation of the university, expert counseling, and application of university admission policy through holistic review. Secondary duties include scholarship review and other assigned tasks. The position reports to an Assistant Director of Admissions for Recruitment.
