About The Position

The Admissions Counselor/Recruiter plays an important role in connecting prospective students with educational and career opportunities at the college. This position builds relationships with students, families, K-12 schools, and community partners while guiding prospective and admitted students through the admissions and enrollment process. The Admissions Counselor/Recruiter serves as a knowledgeable resource for students from their first interaction with the college through enrollment, helping them understand admissions requirements, navigate next steps, and make informed decisions about their educational goals.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in using Target X, Banner and BDM or other scanning software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Effective Communication, verbal and written and ability to provide effective guidance and communication both face to face and virtually using teleconferencing or communication platforms.
  • Good working knowledge of college admissions processes
  • Understanding of FERPA restrictions and proper guidance and assistance within compliance of privacy acts and restrictions
  • Skill in managing multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of financial aid procedures
  • Ability to work well individually as well as in a team environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and Two (2) years of related work experience
  • Experience in the use of MicroSoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • One-year experience working with the Banner Student Information System
  • One or more years work experience in college admissions counseling, admissions recruitment, financial aid, student advisement or related areas
  • Experience coordinating college recruitment events
  • One or more years’ experience reviewing student records to evaluate student admission eligibility

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a welcoming and knowledgeable point of contact for prospective and admitted students, providing exceptional customer service throughout the recruitment, admissions, and enrollment process.
  • Respond in timely, consistent, and professional fashion when addressing questions and concerns via, phone, text, and email with a solution-focused approach.
  • Represent WGTC at high schools, career fairs, community events and other recruitment activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with K-12 schools, counselors, community organizations, and other partners.
  • Collaborate with college departments to provide a positive and seamless student experience from initial inquiry through enrollment.
  • Guide prospective and admitted students in exploring academic programs and identifying pathways that align with their career interests and educational goals.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource regarding program requirements, prerequisites, application processes, and competitive healthcare program selection criteria.
  • Help students understand program options, timelines, and next steps so they can make informed decisions about their educational pathway.
  • Review and audit completed admission files to ensure required documentation and application materials have been accurately processed and meet college requirements.
  • Participate in departmental and college-wide strategic planning initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
