About The Position

The Temporary Admissions Counselor position is a part-time, campus-based, temporary non-faculty professional exempt position in the Office of Admissions at Colorado School of Mines. This position reports to the Director of Admissions for Recruitment Strategy and is a member of the Enrollment Management team. The Temporary Admissions Counselor is responsible for supporting the functional areas of Admissions, including first-year and transfer recruiting and enrollment, welcoming visitors to campus, event support, and other duties as assigned. This position may involve travel during the fall and spring semesters as needed to support the enrollment functions of the Colorado School of Mines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in college admissions, student services, customer service, or sales.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • A positive attitude and independent work ethic.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, responsibilities, and programs simultaneously.
  • Strong project management, resourcefulness, use of good judgment, and the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel throughout assigned region for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as an admissions counselor.
  • Experience using data to inform decisions.
  • Experience using an admissions CRM, ideally Slate.
  • Knowledge of recruitment strategies for selective STEM institutions.
  • Bilingual.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the highest level of customer service to prospective students, their families, school officials, and other campus constituents.
  • Provide admission counseling and information to students, families, school officials, and other campus constituents.
  • Support prospective students and families through the application process.
  • Represent Mines at on- and off-campus events.
  • Evaluate applicant credentials and independently make admissions decisions.
  • Provide support for daily visits and tours, including giving information sessions and welcoming visitors to campus.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet the objectives and goals of the program and/or Mines.
