About The Position

The University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Nursing is seeking an Admissions Counselor (Recruiter). This position is reported to the Office of Admissions within the Office of Student and Academic Services. Under the direct supervisor, the incumbent in this position supports and executes strategic recruitment initiatives by managing in-state and out-of-state recruitment; conducting information sessions; representing Admissions at recruiting and outreach events and counseling prospective students. This position requires approximately 75%25 travel, and the work is performed primarily away from the office and at various locations. Our ideal candidate independently represents the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Nursing at community colleges, universities, high schools, hospitals and other health care organizations. The individual is responsible for attending conferences, college fairs, and additional recruitment events throughout Maryland and other assigned recruitment territories. UMB is a public university and constituent institution of the University System of Maryland. All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • One (1) year of experience in admissions, student enrollment, or a related field.
  • Clery act designated job as campus security authorities (CSA) member and will comply with Clery Act requirements.
  • Knowledge of position requirements.
  • Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws.
  • Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.

Responsibilities

  • Represents University and school in recruiting students and in presenting to a wide variety of internal and external constituents.
  • Guide prospective students through recruitment and pre-admissions advisement by instructing them in the application process and informing them of deadlines.
  • Recruit students to attend the University by creating awareness about the University, its programs, and scholarship opportunities among students, counselors, and alumni.
  • Independently plans, coordinates, and represents the school at national, regional, and local recruitment activities, including community college and university visits, high school programs, hospital and health care organization visits, conferences, college fairs, and other off-campus recruitment events.
  • Provides comprehensive analysis of information and credentials submitted by applicants. Screens, verifies, and evaluates data on admissions applications and transcript materials maintaining all files and record systems.
  • Facilitates and conducts interviews with prospective students.
  • Maintain daily tracking for prospective students and applicants.
  • Participate in open houses for prospective students, onsite school/hospital visits, and other recruitment events.
  • Prepare reports concerning admission statistics and any research conducted in enrollment development.
  • Provide recommendations for improvement of recruitment strategies and changes to policies or procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
