About The Position

The Admissions Counselor III, under general supervision, functions as the senior-level counselor identifying, recruiting, and contributing to increase the population of admittance and enrollment. Manages recruitment and training programs. This role involves counseling and advising prospective students about admissions requirements, policies, statuses, and office programs. It also includes assisting in developing communication plans and strategies to reach prospective students, working directly with applicants and their parents to resolve issues, and organizing, implementing, and reporting on existing programs while developing new ones. The position requires analyzing data to improve recruitment efforts and assisting in training admissions counseling personnel. Additionally, the role involves providing specialized admissions sessions and presentations to various groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Knowledge of admissions functions of higher education.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely.

Nice To Haves

  • Applicants with equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree may be considered. One year of the related experience is the equivalent of one college year. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have four years of related experience to meet the equivalency in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree plus the minimum required years of experience. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have a total of seven years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Counsels and advises prospective students about admissions requirements, policies, statuses, and office programs.
  • Assists in developing communication plans and strategies to reach prospective students.
  • Works directly with applicants and their parents to resolve extenuating circumstances, complaints, appeals, and options for denials.
  • Organizes, implements, and reports on programs already in place.
  • Develops new, high-impact programs designed to recruit students through departmental collaboration.
  • Analyzes data collected from students prior to the start of recruitment season and applies necessary changes in specific areas to assist with recruitment.
  • Assists in training admissions counseling personnel and coordinating staff development, training, and scheduling.
  • May lead training sessions.
  • Provides specialized admissions sessions and presentations to a wide variety of on and off-campus groups.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
